PATRICK DEMARCHELIER CREATES "DESIRE"

Que dire sur Patrick Demarchelier si ce n'est que j'adore ses photos!!! C'est donc tout naturellement que j'ai couru voir l'exposition nommée "Desire" à la A Galerie. Patrick Demarchelier y présente une trentaine de photographies en noir et blanc, des mannequins les plus célèbres tel que Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Kate Moss, Laetitia Casta, Gisele Bündchen et réalisé pour les séries mode de Vogue Paris, US... Bien sur, les photos sont sublimes et c'est un ravissement de voir ces photos en grand format mais ce qui m'a le plus étonné c'est le jeux de lumière à la fois délicat, subtil et naturel qui rendent ces photos intimiste. Une ode à la beauté féminine!

What to say about Patrick Demarchelier except that I love his photos! So naturally I ran to see the exhibition named "Desire" to the A Gallery. SUGAR MAN, SIXTO RODRIGUEZ

Je viens d'apprendre que le dvd de Sugar Man, documentaire sur Sixto Rodriguez vient de sortir. Je suis très excitée et très contente à la fois car j'adore sa musique que j'ai découvert comme beaucoup à travers Looking for Sugar Man. C'est un incroyable documentaire à la fois drôle, émouvant, passionnant et très bien réalisé que je conseille à tous ceux qui ne l'on pas encore vu (il se joue encore dans quelques salles de cinéma). 
Je n'en dis pas plus pour garder un peu le mystère sur son histoire et je vous laisse écouter...

I just learned that the dvd Sugar Man  a documentary about Sixto Rodriguez is out. I am very excited and very happy at the time because I love his music that I discovered through Looking for Sugar Man. This is an incredible documentary at once funny, touching, exciting and very well done I advise anyone who is not seen yet to see the dvd.
I do not say more to keep a little mystery about his history and I let you discover his music...

VANESSA PARADIS, LES ANNEES LOLITA

Si vous êtes à Paris en ce moment, voici une jolie exposition à la Sparts Gallery sur les années Lolita de Vanessa Paradis. L'exposition regroupe 40 photos rare, prises par Pierre Terrasson à l'époque de Joe le taxi. 

Avec un peu de chance, vous croiserez peut-être Pierre Terrasson, le photographe, qui a aussi photographié entre autres Lou Reed, The Cure, Depeche Mode...

If you are in Paris at this time, here is a nice exhibition at Sparts Gallery of  Vanessa Paradis from her Lolita years. The exhibition features 40 rare photos, taken by Pierre Terrasson at the time of Joe le taxi.

And if you are lucky enough, you might even meet Pierre Terrasson, the photographer, who also photographed Lou Reed, The Cure, Depeche Mode among others...

DAVID BOWIE RETROSPECTIVE IN LONDON

Comme vous le savez, j'étais à Londres la semaine dernière. Qui dit visite à Londres, dit expositions et qui dit expositions, dit David Bowie rétrospective!

J'ai hésité entre en parler ou pas sur ce blog... J'ai choisi la seconde option. Donc, je me lance! 

Il y avait beaucoup de monde et j'ai attendu une heure pour pouvoir visiter l'exposition qui se fait avec un audio guide. Et là, comme je n'en voulais pas, je me suis bien fait remarquée.

Voici la conversation entre un des jeunes hommes qui donnaient les audio-guides et moi.

Moi: je ne veux pas d'audio-guide, je voudrai juste que vous me tamponniez mon ticket pour pouvoir rentrer.

Le guide: vous, ne voulez pas d'audio-guide mais l'exposition se fait avec l'audioguide! Sinon, ça n'a aucun intérêt, vous allez louper la moitié de l'exposition.

Moi: ce n'est pas grave, je n'en veux pas. (comment lui dire que je n'ai pas beaucoup de temps et que je veux juste regarder les costumes et les photos).

Le guide: mais c'est sympa de visiter l'expo avec la musique de David Bowie dans les oreilles. Vous n'aimez pas sa musique?

Moi: pas spécialement...

Le guide: (me regardant bizarrement et blasé, même si il a plutôt l'air d’écouter du Hip-Hop).  Je ne peux pas vous laissez rentrer sans, prenez-le et ne l'écoutez pas si vous voulez.

Moi: merci,... (ouf, je peux enfin rentrer)

Bon, j'ai quand même mit l'audio-guide sur la tête... L'expo est intéressante pour les fans de David Bowie, car il y a des paroles écrites à la main, des objets, des vidéo clip, des costumes... 

Pour ma part, je ne suis pas restée longtemps, un quart d'heure précisément, je crois bien que c'est mon record! Car en effet, la rétrospective montre essentiellement la période que j’appellerai "apocalyptique" notamment avec Ziggy Stardust, Space Odyssé... Entre les maquillages et les costumes ça m'a fait peur... oui... comme les clowns!

Par contre, voici le nouveau vidéo clip de David Bowie, que j'aime bien (la chanson et le clip), avec Marion Cotillard et Gary Oldman, très décadent!

As you know, I was in London last week. Who means visit to London, means exhibitions and who means exhibitions means David Bowie retrospective!

I hesitated in between talk or not on this blog ... I chose the second option. So I start!

There were a lot of people and I waited an hour to visit the exhibition, which is done with an audio guide. As I did not want it, I get myself noticed.

Here is the conversation between me and one of the young men who gave the audio guides.

Me: I do not want the audio guide, I want you to stamp my ticket to go.

Him: you do not want audio guide but this exhibition is with the audio! Otherwise it has no interest, you'll miss half part.

Me: it does not matter, I do not want it. (How to tell him that I do not have much time and I just want to look at the costumes and photos).

Him: but it's nice to visit the show with the music of David Bowie in the ears. 

You do not like his music?

Me: not especially ...

Him: (looking at me strangely and jaded, however, he was more like listening to Hip-Hop) I can not let you go without, take it and do not listen if you want.

Me: thank you! (Oh gosh, I can finally go!)

Okay, I finally put the audio guide on the head. The exhibition is interesting for fans of David Bowie, because there are handwritten lyrics, objects, videos, costumes ...

For my part, I did not stay long, a quarter of an hour exactly, I think that's my record! For indeed, the retrospective shows essentially the period I call "apocalyptic" especially with Ziggy Stardust, Space Odyssé ... Between makeup and costumes that scared me ... yes ... like clowns!

On the other hand, here is the new video clip of David Bowie, that I like (song and video) with Marion Cotillard and Gary Oldman, very decadent!

ROY LICHTENSTEIN RETROSPECTIVE IN LONDON

Je pensais déjà connaitre les peintures de Roy Lichtenstein mais en visitant l'exposition au Tate Modern à Londres, je me suis rendu compte que non. L'oeuvre de Roy Lichtenstein est bien  plus large que ses tableaux inspirés des bandes-dessinés que l'on connait tous.

Je continue le post de Vendredi avec mon Shopping Londres en vous montrant mon deuxième achat. 

Chez Topshop, cette fois-ci, j'ai jeté mon dévolu sur cette paire de lunettes de soleil œil de chat avec la branche dorée (cœurs entrelacés), très chic, très star de cinéma, très Cannes, quoi!.. 

Et oui, quand d'autres vont à Cannes pour présenter un film mais n'ont rien à se mettre, moi, je vous présente l'accessoire ultime pour briller sur la Croisette... mais je n'ai pas de film... Mmmh, dommage!

BRIAN LICHTENBERG AT URBAN OUTFITTERS

Mardi, j'étais à Londres pour une conférence avec le Magazine Cosmopolitan UK et j'en ai profité pour faire un peu de shopping sur Oxford Street. J'ai craqué pour une pièce Brian Lichtenberg chez Urban Outfitters.

J'avais déjà vaguement vu dans les magazines, les peoples porter les T-shirts et sweats Homiès (pour Hermès), Féline (pour Céline), Ballin (pour Balmain)... et j'avais trouvé ça pas mal et surtout plein d'humour. Alors, voilà mon Homiès New York que j'adore!

Tuesday, I was in London for a conference with the Cosmopolitan Magazine UK and I took the opportunity to do some shopping on Oxford Street. I felt for a piece of Brian Lichtenberg at Urban Outfitters.

I had vaguely seen in magazines, peoples wear T-shirts and sweatshirts Homiès (for Hermes), Féline (for Celine), Ballin (for Balmain) ... and I found it quite cheeky. So, here is mine that I love!

TREND #37 GATSBY PARTY

Mon envie de départ était de faire un moodboard sur la tendance des franges et notamment des robes à franges.

L'arrivée du film Gatsby a transformé un petit peu la tendance pour aller puiser plus en profondeur dans le style des années 20.

On retrouve donc beaucoup de robes à franges mais aussi des paillettes, des perles et des plumes dans des tons pastels. 

Si vous aussi, vous voulez vous la jouer 'Daisy' le temps d'une soirée n’hésitez pas à en rajouter puisque les années folles font souffler un vent de folie sur nos envies et que le chic et la démesure font bon ménage. 

Alors, faites swinguez les franges!

My desire was to start a trend moodboard on the fringes and specially dresses with fringes.

The arrival of the film Gatsby turned a little the tendency to fetch in the style of the 20s.

We find a lot of dresses with fringes as well as sequins, beads and feathers in

pastels tones.

If you want to play 'Daisy' part for an evening do not hesitate to add more as

the Roaring Twenties have blown a wind of madness on our desires and the chic and demesure match together.

Un peu de musique pour illustrer en fond sonore cette semaine très Gatsby!! Lana Del Rey interprète un extrait de la bande originale qu'elle a spécialement écrit pour le film. 

Le clip, mis en ligne il y a quelques jours, met en scène la chanteuse américaine dans un décor glamour et rétro qui correspond au film et aussi au post d'hier sur Tamara de Lempicka puisque la chanson parle de beauté, des jours glorieux et de décadence.

The clip, put online a few days ago, features the American singer in a glamorous and retro decor that matches with the film and also the post from  yesterday about Tamara de Lempicka as the song talks about beauty, glorious stage and decadence.

Mercredi, Gatsby le Magnifique sera projeté lors de l’inauguration du 66e Festival de Cannes. Adapté du plus célèbre roman de l’écrivain américain Francis Scott Fitzgerald, le film évoque,  l’effervescence de la fin des années vingt. 

Mais avant de vous en reparler durant toute cette semaine, j'aimerai vous présentez la reine de l'Art Déco.

Qui de mieux que la peintre Tamara de Lempicka actuellement exposé à la Pinacothèque de Paris, pour illustrer l'aristocratie excentrique des années folles.

Sa vie très mondaine et théâtrale est une succession de mises en scène donnant le premier rôle à la modernité et au luxe. 

Pour ma part, ces peintures me font penser à des illustration de mode, très femme fatale, parfois androgyne, avec des effets de lumière très cinématographique.

Wednesday, The Great Gatsby will be screened at the opening of the 66th Cannes Film Festival. Adapted from the most famous novel by American writer Francis Scott Fitzgerald the film evokes the excitement of the late twenties.

But before we talk about it during this week, I'd like to present you the queen of Art Deco.

Who better than the painter Tamara de Lempicka currently on display at the Pinacothèque de Paris, to illustrate the eccentric aristocracy of the Roaring Twenties.

Her very fashionable and theatrical life is a series of staged giving the lead to modernity and luxury.

For me, her paintings make me think of fashion illustrations, very 'femme fatale' sometimes androgynous, with light effects use as in a movie.

ONCE UPON THE TIME - CHANEL

Ah, le film du Dimanche soir... idéal pour palier à la morosité de la fin de week-end! Et bien ce soir, je vous en propose un, pas n'importe lequel, puisque celui-ci est réalisé par Karl Lagerfeld, himself. Quoi??? Karl Lagerfeld devient réalisateur? non, juste le temps d'un court métrage qui a été réalisé pour célébrer les 100 ans de la boutique Chanel de Deauville.

Le film en noir et blanc, retrace les débuts de Gabrielle Chanel joué par Keira Knightley ouvrant sa première boutique à Deauville, en 1913. Bon film!

Ah, the film Sunday night... ideal to compensate for the sluggish late weekend! Well tonight, I offer you one, not any, because it is directed by Karl Lagerfeld himself. WHAT? Karl Lagerfeld is a director? not just time for a short film that was produced to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Chanel boutique in Deauville.

The black and white film, traces the beginnings of Gabrielle Chanel played by Keira Knightley opening its first boutique in Deauville in 1913. Good movie!

TREND #36 ORANGE, THE NEW RED!

Le rouge fatal s'adoucit pour laisser place à la douceur énergisante et estivale de l'orange. Couleur mangue, goyave ou pastèque, l'orange est la couleur chaude de cette Été mais aussi la plus rafraîchissante!

The fatal red softened to allow space for the summer energizing and sweetness of the orange. In color mango, guava and watermelon, Orange is the hot color this summer but also most refreshing!

PUDONG, SHANGHAI

Si vous avez vu le dernier James Bond, Sky Fall, vous vous souvenez surement des scènes tournées à Shanghai... Moi, ça m'a tout de suite donné envie de visiter cette ville aux allures futuristes!

Pour avoir une vue imprenable et époustouflante sur la ville, on monte au 88e étage de la tour Jinmao (je ne sais pas si c'est l'altitude ou la vitesse de l’ascenseur mais on a le tournis une fois en haut!).

Le soir, on retourne de l'autre coté, sur le Bund, pour siroter un cocktail en terrasse et avoir un face à face entre le Shanghai des années 20-30 et les buildings futuristes de Pudong. Magique!

If you've seen the latest James Bond Sky Fall  you probably remember scenes shot in Shanghai... Me, it has given me immediately want to visit this city futuristic!

For a stunning and breathtaking view of the city, it rises to the 88th floor of the Jinmao Tower (I do not know if it's the altitude or speed of the elevator but was dizzy once on top!) .

In the evening we returned to the other side, on the Bund, for a cocktail terraces and have a face to face between 20-30 years Shanghai and futuristic buildings of Pudong. Magic!

AROUND YUYUAN GARDEN, SHANGHAI

Au milieu d'un Shanghai contemporain, on se promène dans le quartier de la Vieille Ville pour s’immerger dans l'agitation du grand bazar où se trouve quelques uns des plus vieux édifices de Shanghai dont certains datent du XVI siècle. Là, passé le pont aux neuf zig-zags (pour désorienter les mauvais génies), on accède au Yuyuan Garden (aussi appelé Yu Garden), le plus grand des anciens jardins de Shanghai avec les styles architecturaux Ming et Qing. A l’intérieur, on se promène à travers les différentes maisons ouverte sur l'étang et le jardin. Un véritable havre de paix, poétique en plein cœur de la ville.

In the middle of contemporary Shanghai, we walk in the neighborhood of the Old City to immerse themselves in the busy bazaar where are some of the oldest buildings in Shanghai, some of which date back to the XVI century. There, over the bridge to the new zig-zags (to confuse evil spirits), you can access the Yuyuan Garden (also known as Yu Garden), the largest of the former gardens of Shanghai with the architectural styles of the Ming and Qing. Inside, you walk through the various open pond and garden houses. A haven of peace, poetic in the heart of the city.
